THE
LODGE: The historic lodge
at Eagle Bluff Hideaways is one
of the oldest, if not the oldest,
building on the east side of Kachemak
Bay, outside of Seldovia. Built
in 1946 by brothers Joel and Bob
Moss (and added to over the years),
the lodge is constructed of Sitka
spruce - logged, milled, and hand-hewn
from the trees on the Moss homestead
at Peterson Bay. Eagle Bluff Hideaways
is the heart of that old homestead.
The original log cabin was constructed
entirely without the use of nails
and maintains its rustic look and
feel. To visit the lodge is to participate
in a piece of Alaska history, and
your hosts, Marv and JoJean Loflin,
would love the opportunity to share
it with you.
